Is this a realistic plan for LON on Tibia's ?
« on: March 12, 2021, 12:47:18 PM »

Hey everyone I want to know if my plan is realistic as I am short for time

I plan on doing only 3cm on Tibia.

Lengthen at 1mm then 1.25mm the following day and keep rotating.  Should reach my desired goal in around 27 days.

Is this following timeline possible/realistic?

Day of surgery ---> 5 days later start lengthening ---> finish lengthening after 27 days ---> remove external device the day after lengthening is complete

Is this possible?

Thanks everyone

Tibia is usually 0.75mm a day but not quite sure with LON.

Why would you want to do 3cm though? I think that amount is not worth it considering LON gives you a lot of scars too. but yea 3cm obviously is a lot faster than the usual amounts

Do it when you have time. This surgery is not a joke and don't take it as one. You'll regret it.

Do not rush it. Do it when you have the time to dedicate to the whole process.

You'll get pin bending if doing Ilizarovs, so you'll get less than that but won't know how much less.

Also you need to set aside time for setbacks.

thanks for the replies guys.  I understand ... however I am 100% decided on the surgery and the length I will increase too

Barring any set backs... is that plan possible/achievable?

My main question is also... how long after final length is achieved will the external frames be removed? Can they be removed the following day? Or do I need to wait a couple of weeks?

Add a 20 days margin for setbacks.

Barring any set backs

Ben Franklin said only two things are certain in life: death and taxes.  He lived before LL so he had no way of knowing about its complications.

You need to wait two weeks.

Also interested in how fast lengthening can be. I would say 40 days is a more realistic goal.
