Update from doctor regarding Stryde
« on: March 03, 2021, 12:45:00 AM »

Hey team,

I saw my doc today. According to him, there may be a 6-8 month delay in Stryde. Any opinions? I'm apprehensive of Precise 2 if Stryde is just on the horizon. What do you guys think?

Is your doctor in US or Europe? That would be September at the earliest, some doctor are even saying next year in Europe

Yes, it's already available and approved. The issues are with Stryde and all steel devices. Precice is titanium.

North America. I'm torn between what to do. I was really hoping to have this done this summer. Thoughts?

If you do Precice in the summer you'd be halfway or almost done with lengthening during the time Stryde is just starting to get back in the market. I personally would go for it if my target date was summer of 2021, then again given such choices my mindset would almost always be 'just get it over with'

I see. From my understanding, the process with Precice vs Stryde is significantly different in terms of quality of life and recovery. The way I see it, if Stryde is released in 6 months and I'm able to walk a week after my surgery, I'd prefer that over not being able to walk for 6 months (in advanced) if getting Precice. The issue is, we have no real idea of when Stryde is going to be released. I'm just so torn.

That is a good point. But for me i would rather get it done immediately as opposed to holding out every day thinking "i'll wait for just another day it might release tomorrow" then nothing happens tomorrow. i wanted to wait for stryde as well but with all the confusion regarding when itll be available again i've decided on just doing precice as soon as travel permits. i will be doing 2 segments, so hopefully my 2nd surgery would be using stryde. if they had a definitive date then i might wait, but if it's uncertain like this one - as you can see the estimates are all over the place - i definitely wouldnt

That's the thing. I have lost 2-3 years of my life because of my obsessions, and I need this surgery to get rid of them. I don't want more waiting for something that is not certaint. If there was a date for Stryde, I would wait, but they just keep postponing. I want my life back so... it seems like Precice in June. Lucklily, I just do 5 cm
