dear CPL2012,

I am happy to see you have decided to go on with the process.

Lengthening alone is not easy but not impossible. We tend to recommend having a friend to help or hiring some help. Which lengthening method did you choose?

Make sure your house is set up to avoid going up or down stairs as much as possible.
you will need :
Shower seat
toilet seat elevation and stable support bars
a long clamp to grab things in the ground.
a sock aid tool
velcro shoes are not necessary but can be useful .

stretch as much as you can pre operatively to be as flexible as you can.
set up transportation to go back and forth appointments and therapy
make sure you can get groceries delivered
finally, let your surgeon know you are tackling this alone.

Like this.

It's called a sock aid tool. It helps you put on socks without having to reach down.

Let me tell you what my patients tend to tell me: they end up not using it very quickly.
