Enter.. my opinions/plans/doubts
« on: May 11, 2014, 08:04:27 PM »

I believe strongly anyone who does this operation should keep quite about it as it may affect his image, and don't tell me you don't care what other think because you're on this site and we're all here for the same reason.. Also I believe the most people will know about it the more silly things will happen as we newcomers think sometimes that its an easy operation because of other successful stories and will go beyond the safest limit

That was my opinion..i plan doing 5 cm but I've read that you'll always lose some during lengthening so should I just go with 6?..
will that 1cm cause me more problems than 5? Want to ask this especially to Sweden  as he's the most don't know if pessimist or realist on this forum ..all I want is to be able to do jogging ..does that sound possible with 6 cm?

Yes joggin will be possible if you are gonna do 6 cm.

And while i guess it depends on the doctor/method you choose, you shouldnt lose 1 cm in most cases, only a few mm.

You only lose some height based on the clicking/turns you do.  Doctors will use x-rays to give you an accurate reading of how much you've lengthened.  If you want to be safe, do 5.1 or 5.2 in case the doctor's measurements are slightly off due to fuzziness in the x-rays.

Jogging is possible with 6cm.  Sprinting is possible for me after 7.5cm, so don't worry too much.  Sweden has issues with his legs that many other LLers don't, so don't think his results are necessarily typical.  Your results will vary.

Just some stiffness/clunkiness when walking (sometimes) and some sensitivity in the knees when I kneel.

Dont you also get this when you walk? This is a big curiosity of mine as aside from knee pain LON is very interesting to me.

If you were out with friends walking around and talking would you even notice the knee pain at all? Also can you kneel on say, a soft bed, without pain? It would be annoying during sex to have that be excruciating.

I can tell you that at 5'10 life isn't bad at all. At least I don't have any problems at that height..but I want the best and need it to achieve my target which is 6'0. So I can settle for 2 inch...can you please post a pic of your body if you don't mind obviously?.. You also can use 1 inch of shoes to be 5'11 which isn' noticeable as nobody will ever find out ... Btw how are your arms compared to your full body? As far as me I have long femurs, short torso and arms of an 5'11 guy.. Which is why I think I can pull off 2inch without even notice

Now I'm happy with my height because I found out about LL but before I struggled a bit and its been 2 years since I know about LL plus I was 5'9 back then .. Before knowing about LL It was a big issue but now I'm still motivated but I kinda stopped worrying about my height since I always think that I can sort it out by doing LL... My mindset is motivated and full conscious of all bad aspects of LL and risk but I've put it as a target for myself and I intend doing it no matter what pain or obstacles I come up against..this is by no mean an offence to people who dream of being 5'10.. Just don't even think about that... I'm a different person and I want to achieve the best.. But I can tell you I had no problems with girls at5'7 5'8 and so on ... RGKEY will confirm it by his own experience.. And I'm like the most weird person u'll know.. So everything its possible if you want to do it its just harder at a 'shorter' height and even harder if you lack sex/social experience and ambitions.. I just become lazy when I succeed with a girl and want to get another but then again that's my personality..which is why I'm either hated or loved

The reality of it all is that if you're under 6'0 in life then you're screwed, and if you will still be underneath 6'0 after lengthening both bones then there's no point at all for you in lengthening.

How tall are you now?
5'10 in the morning .. During a normal day I loose around max 1 cm , 1.5 if a very busy one and if its late night.. But i'm almost 18 so I think I can still gain 1 cm so i could be 6'0 at night.. If i don't grow then I'll do 6 cm so i could be 6'0 after 4 pm ... The best would be 5 cm as i find the lower the better, right? I want to keep it the lowest possible to reach the 6'0 mark..

not really screwed but being 6'0  or taller will always be better no matter what... I'd agree with you if I was 5'7 and wouldn't do it but since I only need 5-6 cm to achieve that it looks realistic from my point of view

You can certainly get by if you are slightly below 6 foot... If I were my end height I am aiming for(5 11) I doubt I'd ever even think about height much. But now that I have been "scarred" so to speak from being short, I think even at 5 11 I would considering a second lengthening for about 6 1.

^I'd take it more seriously and wouldn't do a second one if my legs worked perfectly after that.. Its a huge risk but we start to dream too much and forget about its complications

Plus no one will ever refuse you because of your height at 5'11.. I'm not at 5'10 so shouldn't you.. If they do it won't be because of your height.. Plus I think your arms will look quite bad after 4inch? Of only legs.. Think of a t rex. Also in shoes you can easily be 6'0..

I'd of course have to gauge after the first operation. at 5 8 fantasies about 6 1 are great, but if I do 3 inches of lengthening I'll be over 5 11 and it might not even be an interest.

I'd much rather be 5'10 than 5'5, wouldn't you? If not, the why are you on this board.

Seriously 5'10 is such a normal height. I'd say that the majority of white men I meet are about 5'10.

10/ 5 11 are good- Like I said if I was around that height the idea of all this would shock me and seem silly. But being short really teaches the benefits of being taller to the point heights like 6 1 seem tempting.

If it's in tibias then do 5,5cm.

I did 7,4cm and my doctor in Sweden told me I had a gap just a little bit more than 7cm in my legs.

All my problems came right before passing 5cm.

I'm far from ok even today.
Ligaments in my feet hurt every day. That's no life to live.
I'm sick of it and see no meaning in anything anymore.

That's how I feel right now and it's been like this since November 2013.

This was supposed to improve my life, but instead it ruined it totally.

Sweden,

It's too late to do anything about how much you lengthened now. The best thing you can do at this point is try to identify and address all the factors standing in the way of your complete recovery. You may not be able to do it alone so you'll have to consult with doctors (and good ones, not just any ortho). But, there have been Dr. Xia patients who did LON for 7+ CM on tibs and have recovered much better than you. I personally think that some corrections, a ton of endurance/stamina training, and PROPER PT would go a very long way in making you happier with the outcome of your surgery.

If you still hate your life, there's always leg shortening as a last resort. But I doubt you'd be willing to do that, would you? Anything is better than hating your life though.

My problems actually started getting better at 5cm, and I feel like I could've done 10 and been fine.  I don't have any problems with my feet and never did.  During LL it was mostly about my knees being stiff and inflamed, and what do you know, that's still my issue now (slight knee stiffness and sensitivity - nowhere near as bad as it was during my LL though).

The take-home message: LL results and experiences will vary.

OP, if you're 18 then you're still growing. I didn't stop until I was 22 and most I know stopped around 20-23.

My advice is get lots of sleep (take some melatonin if you need help), exercise a lot (get testosterone flowing) and consume a lot of high quality dairy and vitamins. It's totally possible you could get to 5'11" before you're done growing if you work at it. It would be much easier and cheaper than CLL for sure.

Give it a couple more years and if you still feel bad about your average - slightly above average height then consider CLL. But now? Too early.

That's possible, but the only way for him to know for sure if he's still going to grow is by going to an endocrinologist and finding out his bone age from an x-ray. Some are lucky enough to grow until 22 but others stop growing way earlier. When I went to the endocrinologist I found out that my growth plates had fused at age 15.

What Kilokhan is saying is true. One of my best friends is 5'5. He stopped growing in the eighth grade at age 14 and endocrinologists confirmed that it was because of high natural testosterone levels, which, like steroids, can stunt or greatly reduce growth. He dislikes his height but puts me and all of my other friends to shame in road races. He doesn't know about CLL and I am currently not planning on telling him about it since he derives a huge part of his confidence from his natural athleticism, which is truly impressive. If he ever becomes noticeably depressed about his height I'll definitely tell him LL is an option he could consider.
