Should I lengthen tibia instead? I heard people advising against touching your tibias.

TSF on tibias is probably the safest way. It is one thing to have some pins going through your bones and another thing to shove a whole nail inside. Also TSF can correct any misalignment. If you keep up to 5cm, max 6cm, I think you should be fine.
