LL or Master's degree?
« on: January 28, 2021, 02:05:04 PM »

Hey guys Im currently facing a new predicament..
So Ive been busy generating income for Stryde femurs Q3 of this year and everthing looks very promising.
I also had a Masters degree opportunity which I have been chasing for all the last 5 years atleast. Without disclosing any info, its a foreign university and a subject I REALLY am passionate about.

They messaged me saying they really want me to come and its basically a 80%scholarship for a very expensive class. They want me to come at the absolute latest Q3 september, which is when i wanna lengthen... here's my reasoning so far:

1) I wanted to lengthen first and THEN take the Masters opportunity. When i have consolidated and can atleadt walk around in my new height and enjoy the campus social activities.
2)i do not want to do delay lengthening and for 1+year due to Masters.
3. The Masters opportunity may not be available to me forever.
4. Apparently Nuvasive Stryde nails may be audited and I may be delayed from Q3, so I could be wasting time I could 1 year uni instead?? This last point is such an unknown and could mess up all other factors regardless...

Any advise here? I tried asking my friends irl but they just think i can do my work online whikst doing masters(they dont know about my ll plans so i guess it makes sense.

What to do guys? Just as everything is lining up, i really dont want to sacrifice one of my ambitions for the other...

The only thing I advice you is not to underestimate how long it will take you to be functional again. On the other hand, the younger you are the easier it will be

I would never ever prioritise LL over career/education..Get the Master's first and then go for LL..

Imagine you find your soulmate in school and get married and live with your dyphoria forever. Chances are, if you're in this forum, you will never let go of that neurosis.

Technically im already in my career, fully online. This is something I see myself doing 8+years later or so. Plus if I do this, I could be bugged down and maybe never get an opportunity for LL until 2025

I dont believe in soulmates nor am I doing LL for women. Since my dysphoria isnt based on women id still have the dsire even if i got married. Hell some LL vets here had their wives accompany them during LL

Yes, definitely, but you will have the awkward situation where you will feel extremely awkward doing LL while married. And possibly not bite the bullet.

This is true, case in point, LL journey first, complete this part of my life first, then focus on the rest? I'm not worried about generating money as its all online, but the Master's is for increasing my position in my future career. Q3 2022 I should negotiate my Master's for  then?

Ultimately it's up to you. If you truly think your master's program is a once in a lifetime opportunity, then go for it. If your height neurosis is severe enough that it's the number one priority, then do LL. We don't know what you value more.

Career >>> CLL
I am on the same boat as you. I just couldn’t get the money and bcuz of the corona, I cant travel either. So I thought f**k it, just move abroad on study visa, collect money ... and get CLL if the time and money allows it. I know I will feel weird walking short AF. But this is my journey and it’s different for everyone.
Do what you see is possible in the near future. if you see yourself doing CLL in 9 months, do that. If you see masters, do that. Also, masters is predictable whereas CLL can go south anytime...

No one can make this value judgement except for you.

But I do think it is prudent to focus on career > CLL to a limited degree. AKA don't hamstring your career to get CLL, but don't wait until your tenured in some profession either.

Life is about balance. And optimizing that balance for your long-term success, however you define that for yourself.

If I were in your position I'd get the Master's.  LL should give you opportunities in life, not take them away.
