Realistic time frame to walk normal after lengthening
« on: October 22, 2020, 08:53:50 PM »

Lengthening 8cm with Stryde, assuming no complications, is it realistic to expect to walk normal 1 year post op?
Also, how long would the bone take to consolidate?

Hello!

How long on average is the time period that a patient is able to walk normally?

It depends how long it took, and it depends what you mean by normally.

If by normally you mean that it’s almost unnoticeable, anywhere between 8 and 12 months.

usually at around 6 months people walk with a certain swagger in their gait .

Hi Dr. Assayag, I currently weight 75 kg, but because I am 164 I plan to drop to around 62 - 65 kg when the time for the surgery comes. I understand at this weight it should be safe to weight-bear with Stryde at around 1 - 1.5 months?

Thanks for your time!
