Wouldn't it be like the holy grail if they found a way to slow bone consolidation right down so that you could distract extremely slowly, like to the rate at which growth during puberty occurs, allowing the soft tissues to grow in unison instead of stretching unnaturally?

Is research being done into this area?

This would be a real paradigm shift.

The focus and the real struggle is to make sure bone heals properly  before the implants fail.

it is an interesting concept however such a method would need to ensure that it doesn’t impair bone healing and lead to increased rate of non union.
