How Did You Handle Pain?
« on: March 15, 2020, 04:08:39 PM »

I had Stryde surgery done 31 days ago and I'm currently 1.5cm taller   :)  But I feel considerable discomfort/pain on the knees right after lengthening, sometimes on the butt too and a little on the side of the legs.

For those who had or are undergoing LL, did you feel pain and how did you handle it?

Did you take painkillers the whole duration of the lengthening? Which one and what dosage did you take?

Did exercises or any other activity help alleviate or even distract from the pain?

Would you have been able to work or study during this time or was the pain too distracting and kept you from focusing properly?

I have had 2 painkillers, Paracetamol and Oxycodone. But the effect seems to be less if I take them continually and also they seem to be addictive dangerous medication.

So I'm trying to avoid them as much as I can. I still take them before bed if I need to, but that's it, I avoid it otherwise.

What about you guys?

Tramadol and Tylenol.  Small doses of each, though.

Tranquilizer pills helped distract me from the pain a bit.  Those have the same problems of losing efficacy over time and being addictive though.

I took tylenol like MDoW said for first 2 weeks. Still had pain after that but used my molded cast they gave me to compress the leg during naps to reduce swelling. Also once I was allowed getting some blood flow via stationary bike was a key factor in mitigating pain levels. I know what you mean after lengthening feeling a bit of pain as those soft tissues are being impacted by the lengthening. Keep up with your PT meticulously and it should help ;)
