Opinions about 20cm lengthening
« on: February 09, 2020, 08:01:47 PM »

so guys, here’s my idea and I would like you to give me some insight and opinions on it. From all the diaries I’ve read so far I believe it might be achievable with hard work and dedication, which I believe I have when I want something as bad as this.
To start, I consider myself a pretty flexible guy, so that might help along the way.
The idea is the following.. India with Dr. Pradeep Sharma for 6cm tibia LON, Germany with Dr. Betz for 8cm femur Betzbone, and India again with Dr. Pradeep Sharma for 6cm tibia LON. The waiting time would be the following.. After 3-5 months frame removal with Dr. Pradeep, head to Germany to start with femurs. After 6 months post distraction phase in Germany, check the consolidation of the tibias, and probably wait another 6 months to a year to go back for second surgery of tibias with Dr. Pradeep Sharma. During this whole time until 1 year post op frame removal of second tibia surgery I will be doing at least 1 and a half to 2 hours of stretching and hope to do some walking, and will combine this with some gentle swimming and cycling. For me, stretching will be the number one priority during this whole time.
Please give me your most honest and brutal opinion about this idea. Can it work? Would I be able to get back to 100%  after some years?
Appreciate the help! 😊

Hi,  firstly what is your current height?  Do you know your current body proportions?  What is your sitting height and your wingspan?  These measurements will be helpful to determine if you would still look reasonably proportionate.  As for your goals - I think 20cm is very difficult indeed.  I think the only patient to have succeeded with that amount of lengthening was Apotheosis - so it is possible.  But he did arm lengthening to counter the resultant disproportions.

That's too much on tibias if you ask me.

Of course, my bad..
Proportions: current height 1.78 cm, sitting height 94 cm, wingspan 1.80 cm.
Just measured twice to make sure.

I thought so too. That’s why I wanted to wait a good amount of time to let my body get used to the new length before starting the second round on my tibias.

So I’m gonna tell you my story about why such a big amount at my height. Hope you can understand and hold back your judgement.
Never considered myself as being short until I decided to go study at the Netherlands. Of course I was short compared to my little brother who’s around 1.83cm, and that already kinda stings but it didn’t bother me that much. Most of the people I hang around are around my height maybe a little taller, and again this stings but doesn’t hurt a lot. The moment I decided to look into this was when I met the family of my current girlfriend. It felt bad guys, his little brothers who are still in their early teens are towering over me, saying things like “hey there little man or you’re a man stuck in the body of a boy”. At first I could ignore it, but the more family I met, the worst I felt and it all let me to here. I know most of you probably think “this lucky bastard, comes here and cries about his height and problems when his height is what we are trying to reach to change our lives”. Trust me, I know and I have come to identify with the people in this forum. So that’s the main reason I wish to do this. There are other reasons, but they are more superficial. Thank you for understanding and not judging!

Yep definitely psychological

You obviously want to tower over them, we all want to be big boys, it’s in our nature as men

Most doctors will do max 8 cm femurs + 6 cm tibias, max

I’m about the same height as you, and the max with limb lengthening is about 6’2 or 6’3 at most

People in the Netherlands have the average height of about 6’0 to 6’1, so you’re already beat the average height there

If you want to try to hit 20 cm... good luck... and may disable you than make you taller. The reason being is your muscles/bands/etc will be stretched, and you don’t want to exceed what it can’t hold

If you think your girlfriend is the one to settle with, you’re in for a bumpy ride

You have to accept that there’s always someone taller than you (I accepted that as well)

And if you’re consantly surrounded by people who are taller than you, you’re setting up yourself to fail

And with people who are constantly destroying your self esteem inch by inch, literally, is not a good place to be surrounded by - it’s toxic

I’d recommend

1. Trying femurs first, feel it out for a year, things can change
2. Distance yourself from the toxic people who demean your height
3. Check if you really want to increase tibas after 1 year of being 6 ft tall

Rule of thumb is nor more is between 10 to 20% of each segment.
So measure your tibia, and femur.
Second, honestly man these guys are kids at that age, don't let them bother you.
Come up with witty banters, I may be 5'10 but I fk your sister like I'm 6'9. Or better be a short guy with a big dck than a tall guy with a small dck. Or seems your sister enjoys my dcks size, .... oh my bad you were talking about my height. Can send you more if need be lol

You will never do LL. It would be very retarded to do LL just because two kids made fun of you, something that you could easily deflect saying something like "it's big where it counts".

10cm is ok but already pushing a lot on the femurs. 10cm on tibias is not recommended. Even Betz recommends 7cm for tibias.

Thank you for the advice, I’ll definitely sleep on it! Adding to my post, I would never jeopardize my legs, so if on any moment I felt like my soft tissue were tighter than I believe it should feel, I would stop right there and then. I believe that no cm is worth my mobility, and I will continue to read diaries and contact doctors to find out which is the safest and more efficient way to do this.
I really appreciate your time and advice.

GO TO THERAPY

Technically, legs that are 10cm longer than upper body wouldn’t look disproportionate. I already already have longer torso. Regarding proportions, the place where I would notice the biggest difference is between my body length and my arms. But yes, I will consider therapy before going through with this procedure. Thank you

It’s not really the kids that affect me the most, it’s the whole scenario. But I’m just gonna draw you the picture of it, so you can stand in my shoes. The father is around 1.95-1.98, older brother around 2.02-2.07 (very hard to pin down his height), younger brother 1.87-1.90 (12 years old). You have no idea how hard it was to spend the holidays with her family. Everyone is over 1.85, including the women. But yeah, I would never push too much if my body can’t stand it. Thank you for the advice

I mean, you already have a tall heigh, and you want risk walk like a 80 yrs old all your life to being 2 mtrs tall?
Are you joking?
You dont need speen a year of your life and thousand of dollars to be a cripped weird gigant, you need go to a therapist, because you are already tall.
If you were already short, maybe under 1.70 mts (that it's no short but yes a few centimeters under the media) I would say you that do maybe until 12 cm is the safest before serious complication, but you are thinking in ruin permanently your legs tu be 2 mts tall, when you already are tall.
You dont need LL, you need a good psychologist to fix your mind
