Is one L.L satisfying enough for you?
« on: December 23, 2019, 07:01:26 PM »

To members who has done one L.L already, why don't you want to do one more L.L in other segment?

a. You reached your goal and happy with height and now do not see need for one more L.L
b. You don't have money
c. You don't have time to quit work or studies or other commitment
d. You did not recover well after first L.L
e. social stigma and getting caught by friends and family about L.L
f. You realise that height is not that important and first L.L was not necessary
g. First L.L went well but it was very risky and you are scared to take it again
h. You are planning one more L.L

Multiple options are permitted.

I think this kind of question relies heavily on the kind of surgery performed. If it is stryde for example then I am sure many people won't mind doing two surgeries. But something like Lon will keep you crippled for like 4 months, so not many people will be willing to do another surgery and spend like a year of their life crippled.

a, b, c, f, and g.

If I'd had more money I'd have done both femurs and tibias, probably 6cm and 4cm or 5cm and 5cm, all internal.  But the LL ship has now sailed.

Guess this is pretty much subjective for everyone, for me it is a and e, I don't want to make it any more obvious for those know me that I did LL

Yes I'm satisfied with one LL segment for reasons a, c, and e.

a- I did femurs and lengthened 8 CM, the max amount the rod can lengthen. 8 CM is a huge gain, I went from 5'9 to 6'0. I went from just below average height to tall (in the US). In a room full of people, I went from blending in the crowd as average to being one of the tallest people in the room. I went from my height being a bit of a negative physical attribute to a positive asset in the context of both dating and career workplace dynamics. Most importantly, I went from a guy who had anxiety and negative thoughts about his height on a daily basis (wore shoe lifts every day) to living a life where I don't even think about height anymore. I'm very satisfied with my height and have no desire to get taller. Sure, 6'2 or 6'3 would be even better, but I have no desire, 6ft is more than enough, and any additional height beyond 6 ft diminishes in value IMO.

c - The biggest cost of LL was not money, it was time. I gave up 4 months of my life for this (so far, I'm still consolidating and I won't return to "normal" life until 6 months), where my career, family, and friends were set aside and I dedicated myself to LL. Life is short. Time is precious. 6 months is a huge chunk of time. I wouldn't do LL again because the cost in time is too large, even if someone did it for free, I'd say no. I simply want to get back to living my life again.

e - My goal was to keep LL private. Going from 5'9 to 6 ft is going to shock a lot of my friends and family. Thankfully I've been wearing 2 inch shoe lifts for the past 5 years that I plan on throwing out, so I'm hoping most won't notice. However if I did another 2 or 3 inches in a second LL procedure it would definitely be painfully obvious that something is very off about me.

Have you not told a single person(not even any family)? I plan on not telling anyone either and also want to do stryde but do you think hiding it is manageable, i guess with friends it is easier but not family

Heck, if you want you can just wear 2 inch shoe lifts after a femur LL, and bam your tibs are lengthened without any more major haults on life.

Haven't told a single person. Don't want to burden them with worrying about something that seems so foreign and extreme. I'm sure it will come up with my immediate family when they see me in person, and when they do, I'm hoping I'll be in a physical state where I'll look good enough to ease their concerns. Humans are visual creatures, and if they see you walking normally, they'll accept it much better.

My experience is that a lot of people can tell that you look different, but can't put their finger on it, so you may be able to explain it away in another ways.  However, if you cross someone's eye-line, they will notice.

People are very cognizant of height.  I saw someone I see regularly a few days ago.  I was wearing hiking boots 1cm thicker than what I usually wear, and he mentioned that I seemed taller.  He'd never met me before LL and knows nothing about it.
