The best way?
« on: April 30, 2014, 11:12:07 PM »

Hi,

I'm thinking about leg lengthening for about tow years now and definetly want to do it.

I'm 23, look like 15, I'm a 160 cm "tall" guy, I'm European and most girls are taller than me. In fact, I only met 2 girls that were shorter than me in my whole life. I had my last girlfriend when I was 16, I guess. I want to be at least 170 cm, that would make me taller than most a few girls, but 175 cm would be nice. My mother is 166, my father and brother are 178. There body is only about 2-4 cm taller than my body is. My legs and my arms are short (wing span is about 160 cm also). Maybe it looks a bit weird then, when I'm 1,75?

The problem is more - how do I do it? The cheaper way would be one step and do 10 cm (tibia) - maybe at Dr Xia. But I guess it would look better, when I do 7,5 cm on tibia and femur, right? I'm also a bit worried about the time I have to spend. I have dogs (lol, but I could never abandon them) and when I have to pay a boarding kennel for months, I think it would be better to do it at Dr Betz and go home after a week. I'm a bit worried about the nails, they say the nails often break, anybody here that made experience with that? Also Dr Betz is really expensive. Right now I would have the time, but not the money.

So I guess, enough questions.

If you have money the ideal is to have femur and tibia lengthen.
For you 5/6  in tibs and 6/7  in femurs will be the best way to go.
With 172/174cm you will have a good heigth to get dates.
If you couldnt do the two segments . Do one and 7.5cm if tibs or 8/9 if femurs You will be 168 that is very short but at least much better than be 160 forever

^ is right, for someone with your starting height who wants huge total gains, two surgeries is pretty much a necessity. I don't think anyone here would recommend doing 10 cm in one surgery, let alone on tibias.  Doing 7 cm on femurs, 6 on tibias is probably best for you.  You could do tibias fairly cheap in Beijing and internal femurs with say, Jamal.

15 cm over wingspan is definitely odd looking.  I would say assuming your shoulders are average width, 7-8 over is where your arms  *start* to appear short for your height (but in the normal range), and 10-12 over is the point where you will start to look a bit weird.

Did internal femurs using the PRECICE2 with Dr. Donghoon Lee in South Korea on December 27th, 2013, went from 5'7.5" to 5'9.6".  Will probably end up doing tibias in about a year with Dr. Birkholtz to get to 5'11".

Hardly a handful of people (wait, just two: Apo and Tall from the old forum) have done two surgeries.
Their recovery is questionable.

We need some clear justification as to why 2 surgeries (6+7) is better than 8-9 in one segment.

Btw, maybe like it happened with leechlet, you tend to lose your height dysphoria after one surgery.

Post pictures of your proportions and we can do mock ups.   You might look weird if you have 10cm tibia.

The risk is too high with 8-9cm in one go.
