I broke my ankle medial mallelous both sides in an accident, i have metal plates on both sides and a screw which will be removed soon, is it going to be impossible for me to have limb lengthening now? I was planning to do ex fix tibia, I dont know if an ex fix will be placed as low down as the ankle?

You're good, but physiotherapy will be harder and so recovery will be a longer, more tedious process.

I had a damaged R sub-talar joint when I did my tibias with external LON. The lower pins were just lateral to and above the malleolus, but did not bother my ankle.

The difficulty came when I first started walking months later. The weakened leg would put a ton of extra pressure on the ankle, so even though my R leg was the stronger one overall, many times the fatigue on the ankle would be too much and I would need a crutch again from the pain.

I kind of rushed into my LL because of life factors, but if I had it to do over again, I would have let my legs get completely healthy before having them broken. Looking back, I realized now that I convinced myself the ankle would be OK. I was wrong.
