x ray over estimation
« on: September 15, 2015, 10:34:27 PM »

got an x ray a few weeks ago and according to the amount of turns i had done i was expecting the gap to be 1.4cm.

turns out I had a gap of 1.6 cm on right leg and 1.5cm on left leg.

so my question is how is the x ray showing a larger figure, and also why is there a difference between the legs, i did equal turns on each leg

also at this point what should i trust, the x ray or the turns i did.

i was thinking that maybe 6 turns on my mitkovic device isn't exactly 1mm, maybe its more like 1.05mm, and after 20 days you end up with an extra mm you weren't expecting.

it's not so exact, your muscles and tendons might give greater resistance some days and leave you distracting less.

Because  x-ray will   magnify the gap to  your  leg, the x-ray shows a larger figure.
Because the  needle  and  frame  are elastic and inexact, there is  difference between the legs.

Yeah, if they're on separate films it's very possible that the 1 mm discrepancy is just because of x-ray magnification. Some studies that claim huge numbers of subsidence loss after removing external frames actually didn't take that into account. It's very easy to have errors have measurement.

yeah they may be on two seperate films, or at least they took the left leg and right leg picture seperately, but they do appear together on one sheet, but it likely joined together as you say.

i got another x ray today so i will report back the findings soon.

what do you think of the 1.05m being 6 turns for me instead of being exactly 1.00m, that to me is the only explanation for having more height as i was expecting.
