I'm a 17 year old male and only 5'2. My dad's 5'4 or 5'5 and mom's 4'10 or 4'11. The average height for maes in India, where I live is 5'5 or 5'6 but it's still bad when your shortest friend is 5 inches taller than you. Now I'd be happy with 5'4 too, which is why I cringe when people 5'6 and above get this painful stuff done to them. To each their own, I suppose.

I haven't grown in a year. Anyway, since I'm 17, I've decided to wait another year to see if I grow naturally. I'm going to an endocrinologist in 10 days to see if my growth plates have fused. You're supposed to get a growth spurt at 17, right? How I wish for it. But worst case scenario, I'm getting it done next year.

The lucky side would be that I'm taking a year off education and I have all the time in the world. This surgery is more efficient and cheap in India (and other countries like Russia, China etc from what I've read) than the US. Aha, take that, Murica! Happy 4th of July. Anyway, jokes apart, I'm not that scared of the pain. I know I'll take it.. I'm more worried about long term complications.

For all the short guys that had/will have this done for height (healthy short guys, not dwarfs that do it for medical reasons) let me hear your stories.

I would be careful with India. Choose your doctor wisely.  I was very tempted with singari and sarin but you should see how many of their patients suffer from cross legs.  Like many on this forum suggest,  it may just be worth it for you to suffer a little longer and save and get it done with the right doctor.

Dr. Parihar or Dr. Shah are probably your best bets.

Dr shah took my frames off after 5 months. Put casts on them and said it would be ok

Since I just had to get correction in Spain he was obviously wrong

India should be off most people's lists. I have not seen really  good recovery and results from anyone

There's one guy here that got operated on by Dr. Parihar and he seems to be doing well. I PMed him but don't remember his name (he hasn't replied either).

@Taller: Dr. Shah and Dr. Parihar were my exact choices, especially since both are in my city at a drive of less than an hour away.

Money is not a problem actually. My parents will probably pay anything under or around $30K.. just anything above that sounds way too much.

I'd consider Dr Dhawan in Delhi over Dr Shah since aside from Dr Parihar he's the only one offering hexapod corrections,  and even gives you the option to lengthen with a Taylor Spayial Frame rather than a classic fixator.

Crimson had a negative experience with Shah and Phoenix seems to be doing fine with Dhawan.

I most definitely want LON. A nail is 100% better than wearing those horrible looking frames that pierce needles into your leg for about one year. I'd like to know if the nail has any big disadvantages. I'm also going to cross my fingers and hope that Parihar can do it cause he's in my city.
