Men lose less than women, though. They usually gradually lose an inch from 30-60 apparently and another inch around the age of 80, because of cartilege wearing down, worse posture, and your spine's gel plates (or whatever they're called) slowly getting worn down by gravity.
Women lose like 2-4 inches as opposed to 1-2.
I guess it all depends on the individual, though. Probably yoga or other stretches of some sort help, as well as maintaining good posture. And a lot of sleep, and a healthy diet, and enough exercise.... but not wearing your body out either.
