I know we've had discussions about height loss with external lengthening devices (LATN/LON). We also discussed the femur angle making it such that we don't gain all of what we lengthen in femurs, but I don't really buy into this because (so far), I seem to have gained all the 7cm that I lengthened.
I searched the forums and internet, and could not find anything about the possibility of loosing any of what you lengthen with internal nails, so I'm asking here. Dr. Guichet mentioned to me the possibility of losing a mm or two from compression...I'm just wondering how this would happen with an internal nail (especially given those long-ass screws he uses around our hip, which yes, are not pleasant). I'm obviously inclined to believe Dr G, but I'm wondering if anyone else on here knows anything about this. It concerns me a tad because my evening height seems to be just over 5'8", which was my goal to begin with. I still have fairly significant duckass, so I'm hoping that, even if the duckass correction doesn't give a significant gain, it will hopefully "cancel out" any small loss compression loss. I weigh about 164lbs/74kg, but that's with the nails inside. I was about the same weight before the surgery and nails were inserted, so I know I lost some weight.
