What to tell work?

What is the best excuse for having LL to tell your boss? Would it work out better to travel overseas then have the surgery and tell him you had an accident or to tell him ahead of time that you require deformity correction. Obviously the doctor has to agree to sign a certificate stating the previous happened or it doesn't work.

What would you do? Maybe you have another excuse

I think the accident excuse is good but you must ask for vacation time, travel to where you will stay, then fake an accident.

I think if you lenthen over 4 or 5 cms it seems likely that people would suspect something.  It would be difficult to make up a big lie for this.

What are the benefits to returning to the same job?  Could you leave for 6 months and come back and find a new job?

I would be lengthening 5 cm, benefits of returning to the same job are the excellent pay and working conditions.

length 5 CM and you can be walking in probably 3 months, and pretty well in 4... More than that, dont expect a fast recovery. I would be screwed if I weren't self employed.

I'm worried about this too.

Will a doctor like Guichet give a false certificate saying you had a reconstructive surgery because of an accident?

I would ideally want to quit the company (I don't want the same colleagues to see me taller) but have a "clean" record of a reconstructive surgery (no cosmetic reasons) so that when I apply for a job somewhere else, they'll show me some empathy and consider me.

It's complicated. I wonder what the best thing to do is...

I would tell the truth and try to get permission for extended leave, or wait for an opportunity/time window to quit work, have the surgery and find another job/head to MBA, etc. Lying is a bad idea.

Lying would theoretically work if you could simply get a lonnnng time off work. Saying you went abroad and got injured works... For your friends/fam. Not your workplace.

Truth is impossible to tell I think. Unless it's guaranteed to be confidential, I wouldn't want to tell the truth.

Instead of lying, maybe it is better hide the truth. At the workplace, maybe you could say you want to quit for "health reasons" and get a good recommendation for the awesome work you have done so far.

And then when you are back to find a new job, your old boss would give you a good recommendation.

Stating that I wanted to have CLL would not be a valid reason for extended leave. Lying is only a bad idea if you get caught. If you were able to convince them you had an accident and could come back and keep working at the same place it would be ideal.

What kind of accident? Also what documentation is your workplace asking for, is your doctor going to make something up to put on a certificate? What about your travel insurance claim?
