I am currently studying in the penultimate year of University and I had always planned to go and get LL after graduating because I felt then I would be ready for it(told myself I will work on all other areas of life).
However I feel like I have sorted out other areas of my life i.e. have good social skills, confidence etc and I feel like I can truly put this surgery in perspective.
And now I understand there is no perfection in life but it is about continuos improvement and it is illogical for me to think I have to be "perfect" before getting LL because there is no such thing as perfect, life is a constant adventure and people constantly change.
So now I feel like I am ready and am tempted to take a year out and go get this done and out of the way before final year and then going on to do a masters straight after. Instead of my initial plan of doing it in the year off between my BA and Masters.
Any advise for me? What would you do in my situation?

I am worried about explaining to people why I took a year off in the middle of my degree and what I did in it (particularly my parents)
How I grew 2.5 inches in my time off( I will be 21 so late growth spurt?)
Something crazy happening and me not being able to finish my degree after years of hard work

Thanks for the advise guys  :)

My thoughts are
1. You are probably ready for it since it sounds like you've put it in perspective and aren't viewing the surgery as the end all be all to a better life.
2. Cast all fear about what others think aside. You won't feel self conscious about it after, and honestly depending on your current height many might not even notice.
3. As for why you're gone, if you are taking a full year off you will have time for a good recovery so you could come up with anything really. Traveling, studying somewhere, backpacking with friends etc.
4. I advocate for getting it done sooner than later. Better return on investment, costs are only likely to go up, and its just not fun knowing in your near future you will be in pain. Feels very good to just get it out of the way.

I am in a similar situation and have similar concerns.  I am finishing up an MBA right now and hope to do LL in a year or 2.  I plan on working online doing accounting work while I take a year off to "travel".  I saw family last week and I usually see them one  a year because they live across the country.  I wore 1.5 inch lifts.  I plan on doing 5 or 6 cms on tibs.  I don't think they will notice the height increase.  I agree with the last post - get it done as soon as possible.

Wearing some kind of lifts or thick shoes before is a good idea. Especially if you are only doing 5 or so CM, people really will not notice.

Thank you so much for your advise programdude it's nice to hear other people's opinion because I can't really discuss this with people I know :/

Also, if you do it before studies, finding a job won't be hard.
If you have a year break right after studies potential employers will question you.

I feel like going "travelling" after you've graduated is more accepted than took a year off in the middle of my degree to go "travelling".

Also what do you guys think of the theory that the younger I get my ll done (21 compared to 22) the more accepting people will be of the natural growth spurt. (I know I am obsessing and people in the real world aren't aware of ll and are not that concerned with someone else's height) :)

That's a good theory, a lot of people know about LL and everyone who is curious can find out with a 2min google search that you had LL. Do it as early as possible or you will be known as the crazy guy who broke his legs to get taller.

OP, I say go for it. I agree with programdude on all fronts. I wish internal femur LL was around when I was graduating college. I'm the same height as you (167cm morning/166cm evening), and I took my height as a given back then (and so wasn't bothered as much by it). I'm 30 and doing it now, and I feel it's still gonna be very worth it for me (also because I'm young looking and handsome, I'll get more return from it). Also aiming for 6.5/7cm.

Do it ASAP my friend!

"Travelling" is not an excuse to ditch work for a year. Most companies would frown at this. I think it's best to say you had health issues during college and had to take a year off. Colleges have "terms" and such. You *have* to start when college starts.
So they'll understand.
With work, one year break is questionable cuz you can start working any time of the year.

In my country it is not uncommon for people to take some time off after graduating to travel etc before applying to jobs. Like I said for me it's only a difference of a year, either do it this upcoming summer and then return to finish my final year then do a masters or finish my final year then go away and do it and then return to do my masters probably at a different uni.
