P nail is not available in Europe right now. So it is either Fitbone in Spain or Gnail in Athens.

Hi All,

As P max nail is recalled, I plan to do LL in thigh around 6 cm with other nail in May 2025. Now there are two options:
1P nail Dr. Giotikas in Athens
2Fitbone  Dr Alex Monegal  in Spain

Will you recommend which doctor is more professional?

Hey all,

I'm currently in week 3 of femur lengthening using g-nail. Up until now clicking was relatively easy and painless, but the past few days it has been increasingly painful, to the point where it's become quite stressful.

The only really tip I was given was to relax, and it worked quite well initially to make sure I don't go too fast and create pain. But now even we all the relaxation in the world, it just hurts !

As I'm writing this I just finished my morning clicking session and it lasted 42min for the right side and 17min for the left side. and 10mi later it still hurts from all the twisting ! Now I don't even care about the time tbh, it could be 1 hour each leg, but even when taking my time it still hurts like a b*tch.

So here are my questions:
- Do you guys have any tips/tricks to make it hurt less ?
- Does it get better or worse ? Intuitively, as the muscles get even more stretched with time, I feel it's going to get worse...

If you have any experience with this please help a brother out.
Hopefully this thread can also be a good resource for future G-nail/Betzbone patients.

After having this issue processed in my unconsciousness for quite a while now, I have come to the conclusion that the above described "strategy 2" would be the best alternative for me, considering my individual situation and my desire for wanting to keep as many possibilities as possible open for the future.

I have been able to take into account many different aspects of the surgery; time spent lengthening and time spent in the rehabilitation phase, cost of surgery by opting to only do one segment initially, desired outcome in regard to height goal, simplicity, and the possibility to contemplate by how much I want to lengthen my tibias in the future.

If I go through the femur lengthening without any considerable complications, I may, however, want to do the tibias as soon as possible after my femur lengthening in order to regain a somewhat similar pre-surgery femur/tibia-ratio.

I am considering of doing this surgery in Greece using the Guichet nail. I still have to familiarize myself more with the advantages and disadvantages with the different nails. However, the Guichet nail seems to be an overall good fit for me since it allows full weight bearing with crutches from the day of the surgery. I want to fly back to my home country as soon as possible after the surgery and start my lengthening and rehabilitation/recovery phase and regain my independence as fast as possible.

It's been a year and a month since I came back from rehab, and my bones have solidified. I'm able to do all my work at home and at the office better than before. I can sit cross-legged, do deep squats, and even jog and run at a slower pace. I am very happy with my afterlife and very thankful that my journey was great and under the supervision of experienced people. If anyone wants to ask me anything, they can DM or ask here. I can give you an idea of what you should choose, what precautions to take, and how to recover once you get home to get back to life.

I will post soon my current x ray

Well no, as much as I've heard, he never intended to go beyond 5.5 cms and his tibia: femur ratio is 0.9 which is a bit even above the far value of normal average ratio, he still retains most of his ankle functions, now what remains is his consolidation and regaining most of his pre surgery athletic abilities, wish him all the best and please, keep posting to this pretty much dead forum about your recovery phase, if you can, all the very best.
