just got my fixators removed. its been about a week and my knees are really bent and curved when i wake up. i use the bike mid day and put weights on my knee to make it straight for a week already. still feeling the bent knees when i wake up. i have a slight curve and not straight leg and also developed slight ballerina foot about 1cm. while i have been practice standing up and stretching my heels. im concern about my knees. when in a month im going home back in the states i dont have much physical therapy as before. should i be worried about bent knees in the future?
-
Don't worry bro, these are minor problems. You will be better after 1 month, trust me.
-
i hope so . ive develop this problem during the lengthening phase. my pt mainly focus on my heels and not really my knees. i feel if my knees were straight i can walk gingerly without pain. now i feel a bit pain when standing on my heels. its my first week off frames.
-
knees are bent in the morning i have to spend time straightening it before i can start walking. started walking with a walker now 12 days after 2nd surgery. slight pain in my knees from the locking screws. dunno how people could stand this pain after 1 month...hopefully my knee pain goes away. currently wrapping it to feel better. my next goal is to stand up while sitting without support. pretty hard to do when u see your buddy next to u doing it. one of my room mate since i started lengthening have left and went home which sucks and another room mate that is fixing her bent knees just left after a few weeks. having your room mates leaving one after another kinda sucks. i just got another room mate that came in n there gonna leave before me too.

ive straighten my leg when im in a laying position but when in a standing position im having a hard to straightening my legs. i still havent figure out why my knee are so stiff when im standing. does anyone know why?
im walking with a walker with little pain. just my knee doesnt go straight. my pt guy havent done anything for it yet. only when im laying down my legs are straight.

cyborg has a website dedicated to people who think they might have a problem during leg lengthening or simoly wanna ask questions about anything regarding lengthening, try to find the website, i think he has it under one of his recent videos.

ive watched several videos of his already. mostly asking doctors questions that ive seen.
i been walking alot lately like 1200 steps a day and my tibia muscles have balloon in size. it was bigger than before my surgery. i feel like i have 2 different ways to walk. one way to walk quick with the help of the walker and another is walking slower with less use of the walker. i think the slower the walk is better.
i think the bent knee is part of the lumbar lordosis . hopefully that goes away because it reduces height.
-
This is normal for you. You are used to walking aids in the past. You have to adjust the stress through exercise and stretching, and eat more nutritious food.
-
i have walked alot today and feel my foot burning sensation coming back. my foot has some nerve pain but nothing noticeable. today it felt like burning once before when i had my frames on. hopefully its not like this all the time.
im not sure how long my nerves will take to heal but i hear from 1-6 months. to not even healing at all. its so bad.
-
Thank you for being active and keeping us updated.
I wish you the best for your recovery. :)
-
Are you not seeing a physiotherapist ?
-
my physiotherapist is not state of the art . where they have facilities. i dont think they did a great job taking care of me thats why i had to stop early at 5.5 cm . my pt focus on my ballerina feet and gave me massages during lengthening . i feel i missed out alot of real pt during lengthening .
-
after one month and a week. i can walk 10 steps unassisted. its not the best of walks though. im walking more like spread legs and at a slow pace. i shouldnt walk unassisted though not after 2 months say the pt guys. the guys ive seen actually walk after 1 month unassissted but things can go wrong. will probably need a new job after because i worked at doordash and i dont think i can go up stairs like i used to. maybe a job at uber taxi. a job i dont look forward to because i heard bad stories . hopefully my area is good though not like the ghettos.

are you able to fully straighten the knees now? without pain?
How is the bent when you wake up in the morning and how long does it take to straigthen the legs from when you wake up?
-
When I wake up my right knee is a little bent but I can straighten out by stretching for 5 mins. I usually use a chair in the morning to get around. After I'm awake 15 mins I'll use crutches.
I find my ankles aren't fully touching the ground when I walk without crutches. I still feel a slight pain at the top of my ankle where it bends. Probably 1 more month I'll have better flexibility to walk without pain at the ankles.
-
After reading a few forum post I have this medial knee subluxation. My knee is slightly bent inside. Not sure how I can fix that. Maybe with time it will bend back into place. Maybe wearing a knee brace will help.
-
Looked at my previous xray and I already had my knees pointed inwards already. Maybe even before the surgery.
Not sure where to go now. Probably wait for bone healing n get stronger and hit the gym for flexibility training.
-
currently walking on crutches and found a new walk where my left leg is straighten out and can be extended. before my left leg was never extended when i was walking.
i can walk without crutches unassisted now but only for like 10 walking steps. here and there. ive notice im putting alot of pressure on my screws and i can feel it more than i do when im walking with crutches. hopefully the pressure on my screws goes away. and im walking wobbly probably because im still weak from the bones.
-
Did you tell your doctor you suspect to have a subluxation? What did he say?
-
I told my pt guy and we compare thigh. He says everyone has it and it's normal. I might be a little paranoid I guess . It just on the xray my thigh bone goes inward a bit but I guess I did hard exercise and it's normal. I've looked it up and they talk about medial knee pain but I don't have any pain. So I shouldn't worry.
-
Took a measurement today only grew 3 cm . So I lost like 2.5 cm of height. Probably I'm not fully standing straight. Still questioning if I grew 2 inches lol After looking in the mirror.
-
Whatever x-ray shows is probably what you gained, 0.5cm give or take...

there is no way you lost 2,5 cms. You probably are not standing straight

everyone is different
work hard with your pt to fix yor knee contracture
-
i took a measurement today at 172cm. for some reason i dont feel like this . i think that people are 1 inch taller everytime i take a guess. people really are tall. even the grls seem taller on my flight last week.
i am working on glute exercises now. notice my back arching when i walk without crutches. working on my own now no more pt.
Where did you get your surgery?
i got it in hanoi vietnam. a lot of things happen during that time. it went by fast now.
-
after coming home last week i had no pt. just exercises on my own. my leg felt super stiff and tight. had to watch a few youtube videos to do something about it.
i bought this resistance band https://www.ebay.com/itm/285467500749?var=587405566188
i use it for pulling my ankles. it helps to relax my leg muscles a lot and decrease my ballerina too. my recovery seem a bit slow compare to some guys at the hospital. there already walking unassisted.
my knees arent bent anymore im just use this page to continue on with my recovery .
i need to start working again because i have alot of bills keep piling up haha. after a month or two hopefully it will be enough time.
I got a hard job too. Climbing upstairs n downstairs of ppls houses.
i keep using doordash and it gets too expensive. like $40 for a days worth of food.
-
everyone is different
why are you only 172 instead of 174 cm tall? Wrong posture or you lengthened less than you thought? Did you ask your doctor?
-
it has to be my posture because i went up a cm. probably in 2 months it will be better. rn i have a pinching back pain. im trying to stretch it out but doesnt seem to go away.
-
so you’re 173 cm now? at the same hour of the day? Because one tends to be 1-2 cm taller in the morning
-
yeh i had to remeasure because the doctor office had a leaning measuring stick. i've notice my tendons and muscles dont stretch out that quick. it takes a good stretch in the morning to have everything stretched out. hopefully in 2 months i dont need to worry about stretching.
i was worried about bone healing but its really the tendon n muscles i should be worried. cus its pretty tiring on some days.
