Wondering if I should alert TSA before going they screening? Anyone have any experience flying with Stryde nails?
-
My Stryde rod has sometimes set it off, but not always. I don't think you need to tell them beforehand, though.
-
My stryde nails did not cause any trouble so far during two trips. People have all kinds of metal implants. Even if they notice it's not a big deal and they will just palpate you.

I've flown quite a few times and I've never set off the metal detector before.
In fact, the first time I flew and I was limping with a cane, TSA asked me if I had implants and wanted to go through the body scanner instead.

Most of the airports these days; make it so the body scanner is a default way to get screened. They will see the nails and ask no questions. If you are looking for a more speedy way to get through the screening; sigh up for TSA Pre-Check.

This was correct.
I had 0 problems getting thru TSA. Thanks!

Flew at least 20 times with Stryde. It never set off the metal detector. I’m TSA precheck so almost always went through the metal detector.
