Savings for patients with U.S. Health Insurance that have coverage for physical therapy:

1. Physical Therapy by private physical therapist = $11,000 - $13,000 in savings ($1,000 per week for PT at the Paley Institute)
2. Rent a nice simple house or condo anywhere in Southeast Florida instead of staying at a hotel = $3,000 - $4,000 in savings

Total Savings = $14,000 - $17,000

Examples:
Femur Lengthening: $85,000 - $11,000 = $74,000
Tibia Lengthening: $95,000 - $13,000 = $82,000

House/Condo: $3,000 ($1,000 x 3 months)
Hotel: $6,500 ($2,165 x 3 months)

Is it accurate that Paley will deduct 5k for mentioning old forum  still? That would go a long way alone at making me feel better about it all.

Great information, Stadiometer. Thanks.

From what I've heard, Dr Paley will deduct 5K for those who are tight financially. The mentioning old forum  thing was just a ploy used by the forum to get its name out there.

Well if I mention the 5k discount, does it stand to reason he would honor it?

The discount for mentioning old forum  is a misnomer. Dr. Paley offered me the same discount without ever mentioning old forum . Simply bring up your need for financial help, in the form of a discount, during your consultation. That's all I did and it was more than sufficient.

Apparently that discount was still valid for Agrios on the old forum as of early 2014.

Maybe if you mention LL Forum, you'll get a $10,000 discount!  ;D

Cool, assuming his answer about PRECICE malfunctions is what I want to hear I think I will go ahead and get the consultation. If it sounds like my expectations can be met I'll bite the financial bullet and go with him.

Also, if my insurance covers PT and I mention it to Paley, will they handle the rest? I am pretty sure it does cover it. If that were the case everything would probably cost 80k or less even at a hotel.

To avoid confusion please re-read the original post:

The savings I describe above come from having a private physical therapist who accepts your health insurance come to your home/hotel, or you go to their center instead of having your physical therapy at the Paley Institute.

Patients are not required to have their physical therapy at the Paley Institute, it is offered to cosmetic patients as a way to increase safety by having physical therapy from therapists who have a tremendous amount of experience with limb lengthening patients.

It is my understanding that cosmetic patients can not have their physical therapy covered by their health insurance at the Paley Institute.

Wouldn't it be a bit risky to not use them then? Or would a typical PT be a fine substitute?

My plan to save money with Dr. Paley is by lengthening at home. This way I don't have to pay for PT at the Paley Institute or pay for a house or hotel for 3 months. Dr. Paley told me as long as I find a good PT near my house, stretch on my own multiple times everyday and return every 2 weeks for my x-rays and check ups that's fine with him. Dr. Paley is much more affordable than people realize as long as you are willing to follow his safety guidelines.

Thats interesting. It sounded from his write up that you had to stay in WPB for the duration of the operation.
