Title: Should I go through with it...
Post by: Jenny on February 23, 2014, 01:48:34 PM
Hey there! I'm around 4'7 and 18 years old. Yes I know that's short haha. I fully don't understand why you guys are going through this surgery. I mean I would kill to be at your height. Heck I would even be satisfied to be just around 4'10-5 feet tall. I do plan to go through surgery someday. But I'm doubting if it's even worth it. I mean there are a lot of risk. Any advice? I would really appreciate it if you give some.  :)

Height neurosis is very relative and it exists even to people way above 5'10" for example.

The veterans will tell you the many risks about lengthening but one risk not often discussed is "death." This risk is very, very low and it has not been documented in the forums, but it's something that must be considered.

During operation, "something" can happen. You can have allergic/anaphylactic or any idiopathic reactions from meds, and more so for general anesthesia. Fat embolism and dvt are potentially lethal too.

Again, extremely low chance of dying, but if the anesthesiologist says that this is zero chance, he must be lying.

I assume you are a female, 4'7 is still a bit short but if you have great sleak body and good proportions I don't think you should opt for this surgery.

It is totally up to you, really. At 18 you have the whole life in front of you. So whatever you do, do not risk your life for some bucks by going to any of the indian docs, jamal or any 3rd world doc. Because if you do, you won't be enjoying your 20s at all.

no matter how fit she is, she is still consider too short..
I saw girls who are in a good shape with 145cm ..I can surely tell they need LL
because they looks like child, humm it's actually worse cuz they have an adult's figure but a child's height.
Moreover, many countries consider the female who is under 150cm as a special need person

----------

Jenny, it's not that I want you to feel bad about yourself, but 4'7 is really short no matter in which country you live, or how fit you are
My advice to you , is to do it, yeah it is painful, and it's  not risk free surgery..but it's worth it
you just have to consider doing it with a good doctor,
does your health insurance cover LL in you situation?
You may do some investigation regarding that ..

good luck

You're 140cm, drawfism is 143 or 147 cm (I don't remember), you should be able to do LL for FREE in your country.
I'd say, take the chance.
I'm 5'2 male and I'd rather lose 10 years of my life for just 10 cm.

I wouldn't encourage anybody to get CLL. There are a lot of legitimate risks involved, and as a worse case scenario you can have both your legs amputated by the surgeon or even die.

I'd say only go for CLL if you're absolutely miserable because of your height, are convinced that your height is holding you back in life, and obsessing about your height day in and day out. Leg lengthening is far more serious than a nose job or any other sort of cosmetic surgery.

This is my personal opinion and of course you don't necessarily have to agree with it, but I don't think women need cosmetic leg lengthening. If it's not going to be a burden on your finances, if you have the time and will to do it, if you can trust a doctor with your life, and if it's really going to make you happier and feel better about yourself at the end, then do it. But as a guy, and I'm only speaking for myself, I don't care about a woman's height in a social or romantic relationship. You could be 4'7 or 6'0 tall, if I like you it'll be because of your personality only. For physical attraction, I look at the face, and maybe weight matters a bit, but height doesnt't, at least for me. On the other hand, as a male, I felt that I absolutely needed to do CLL. I could never accept being a short guy. I didn't want to spend a lifetime comparing myself to other men and accepting loss despite all the other qualities I have (a good education, caring personality, reasonable wealth, will to work and achieve, etc.) At 5'5 I felt doomed, so I didn't care about the risk of non-union, fat embolism, or even death. If you're unsure about the risks, there's still a lot of reading you have to do  ;)

Everyone thank you for your advice. Some of you opted for me to go for it and others didn't. As for myself, I'm not yet sure whether to have CLL or not. I'm still weighing the pros and cons regarding this matter. I'm still pretty young and who knows what might happen in the future. I may post here again if I ever decide to go for it. For now, I'll stay undecided. Again, thank you. :)

That's good, stay undecided, gather more info.
You can still change your mind once you reach the right age.

If you have to pose this question, then I don't think you should undergo LL at all.

Most people who undergo LL because they have no other choice in life. LL is their only chance to face life so we never ask this question.

At 18, I don't think you have the money to go with the best doctors in the world. And if you go with third world country doctors, I don't think you can stand the pain. And people can take advantage of you because you're a female.

But if I was in your shoes, I will go for LL tomorrow. But I'm different.

If you want to test yourself whether you have the willpower to undergo LL. Find a chin-up bar. Hang on the chin-up bar and curl your arms so that the bar reaches your eye-level. If you can stay there for 1 minute, then you have the willpower for LL. If not, then you should be happy with where you are.

I agree. Not all doctors in the third world countries are bad. You just have to do your research properly. People can take advantage anywhere in the world.

Buddy, you don't need to lose 10 years of your life. 10cm plus 90% recovery are easily achievable.

Just save up your money and find the best doctor you can get. Make sure you don't screw up like I did. I hope my experience will set as example for others not to follow.

Although if you aim for 10cm, there will be a lengthy time where you won't be able to go on dates, but that is the only thing I've been missing versus my life before LL.

10 cms is a lot and will be a good gain for anyone.

I wouldn't do the "underground criminal activity" if I were you.  You sound too dumb to pull it off!

Hey man, there is nothing wrong with being short. I was short for all my life living in a city where everyone is a giant and no one ever told me that my height was a problem.

Being short, the biggest demon is actually yourself. When you walk down the street, no really care how tall you are. If they have height insecurity, then they would care if you are taller than they are. But if you're short and you walk around other people, no one will feel bad about themselves.

In fact, I will never date a girl if she was ugly. But I will date her if she was pretty and short. And I will never talk to anyone if I think they're stupid. Being short, the greatest demon is yourself. If you're short and you can pull it off and feel confident, then you're the boss. Check out the short guy below. I can't imagine all the pus*sy he got. And I rather be in his shoes than any tall and ugly dude. He's respectable and FEARED. I wouldn't mess with him if I ever see him in the streets.

That's Joe Pesci.  I think he's about 5'4"

Goodfellas is an awesome movie.  He has a similar role in Casino.  Also a great movie.
