Title: Does anyone think I could get a surgery done in India for 18,000 USD TOTAL costs
Post by: OregonMade on January 06, 2015, 11:10:53 PM
So I keep seeing doctors posting stuff like 10,000 USD, or 7,500 USD but not all of them post information saying how much the surgery in total will cost.  I'm in sales so I know first hand that their is a disparity between what the price is and what the total cost of the price costs.   So I'm looking for a place besides Dr. Sarin that offers rooms to stay in the hospital.  Their is so much information out their its sort of hard to weave through it all.

You get what you pay for - LL can affect your body's capabilities even after the lengthening has been accomplished. Risks are at stake at that price, so save up in case of replacement - or anything life threatening.

Speak to their patients first, and then talk to their doctors.

Yes. Dr. Parihar and Dr. Suhas Shah both trained with Dr. Paley and are great surgeons! They charge about $10,000 each for the surgery, and an extra $8750 should be more than enough to live in India for half a year. The only downside is that they only offer traditional Ilizarov for that price, so don't be expecting a lot of frills and luxury.

If you want to go to Dr Parihar you'll want $15,000 for surgery and a week of hospital stay. Then have $1,500 a month for hotel and food costs. I'd have $23,000 - $25,000 saved up for him to be safe.

Dr Dhawan seemed to be a good option in New Delhi for LON or hexapod externals. It would be $9,000 - $10,000 for the surgery and around $22 daily for extended stay at a nearby Hotel Indira.

How long was the total journey for you Kilokahn? I know you did just under 2.5" and if I read your diary right, it was just under 6 months.

I had my first surgery on June 25th and my second surgery to add pins on October 23rd. Left for home on October 27th. You could probably go home with no frames in 4 months with LON.

I read under Dr. Parihar descriptions that he  only does one 2 to 3 limb lengthening surgery's a year but then I read some where else that it is his main area of interest.  I am confused on this.  would love to here from someone who has been to see him personally.  Any ideas?

He probably just doesn't get a lot of clients.

Limb lengthening and deformity correction using Ilizarov techniques is his main speciality. However he only does about 1-2 cosmetic lengthening per year.

He's in the OR just about all day Monday through Friday from what I saw. He mainly treats people with deformities or severe injuries though. That 1-2 a year quote is just in regards to cosmetic lengthening. It's not his primary interest to seek out cosmetic patients even though he is probably the best person in India to go to for it.
